one congregation phenomenon i have observed in a variety of halls - older, not so model material brothers have a real chance with younger, attractive sisters - and often at the prodding of the young sisters parents and congregation members.. and if you have a little more scratch than the average jw brother (which isn't hard to do with a bunch of window washers), you really have an advantage.. a 40 year old man walking through the mall would have zero chances with an attractive 18+ year old girl.
but take that same man, who has been faithfully attending meetings and doing all the right things and put him in the kingdom hall and suddenly anything is possible.. sad, but true.. of course, who wants all the drama that comes with a girl that young - but it is something i have observed.. when i was in my early 20's and came back into "the truth", and i had a few dollars - and i had so many sisters tripping all over themselves for me... and the ages range from late teens to late 30's.
it was crazy.
What always bothered me.....was these a-holes who would counsel and pester people over the silliest of things, saying: "how will it look to others". Then, at first chance they go out and do something like this without considering "how it will look to others".
Michelle.....unless you want to reveal it in a post, could you PM me if the elders at least questioned him about underage activity? Were you suspect to that? I would have been all over that issue.

ever since i left this mind control cult i have continued to offer resistance in what ever ways i thought good at the time.. but i'm faced with the question: is it good or bad idea?
or how far should i go and to what lengths should i go in my efforts to fight this cult?.
i think being a jw for 29 years has defined a large chunk of my life and to just try to forget about it may be a big mistake.

Michelle......Sounds like he had some connections in the KH. That's not your typical 2 people acting on feelings for each other. It should have been a very suspect situation due to the possiblity there could have been underage activity going on. Usually such persons had to prove themselves for a much longer time before considered for re-instatement, but nothing surprises me now. Hope you are doing well.

you don't even have to do it all at once; maybe do one meeting a week for a month, then one meeting a month for two months, then just stop going.. what's going to happen?.

This is actually a very good idea and approach. It's almost like staging a protest or strike against a major business corporation over unfair business/labor practices. With less members out in FS or at the KH, less donations come in. The WTS is making good JW's look like idiots with their cult like interpretation of doctrines, practices & policies. People need to send a message that they are tired of the "kookiness"!

My 36 year old ex husband just married a 19 year old girl last week. He of course had the full support of the congregation. Ewwwwwww
I agree Michelle. Big difference in a 36 man and 19 girl. Much different than between 50 man and 35 woman. I would find it hard to believe a 36 man who has been married before would marry a 19 girl without already something going on between them. If it was going on when she was under 18 that is another problem in of itself.
